Position Description & Responsibilities: The position leads the UNIX support group within the Information Technology Department of the National Customer Support Center: This group supports production application and fulfillment processes running on Sun Sparc and HP Intel servers. Direct responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: 1. Responsible for all personnel management (i.e. hiring, firing, performance management, etc) of personnel assigned to the UNIX support group. 2. Ensuring schedules are met and that resources are effectively utlized. 3. Ensures proper relationships are established between customers, teaming partners, and vendors to facilitate the delivery of information technology services. 4. Coordinates the resolution of production-related problems 5. Configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting, LVM, SVM, and VxVM file systems, mounts, links, IP routes, port forwarding, web services (Apache, SUN One, and Coldfusion), patches, security services, etc. 6. Writing, testing, debugging, and implementing shell scripts and Perl scripts required to implement and execute customer applications. 7. Configuring and administering user and production hardware environments, software environments, and third party software applications such as coldfusion, Net Backup, Oracle, WebSphere application server etc. 8. Monitoring production applications and processes through Nagios, reporting issues, and supporting application development to resolve problems. Minimum experience, knowledge, skills & abilities required: Seven (7) years managing the operations of large scale computer systems as well as hands on experience and demonstrated ability with Solaris 9 and 10, Linux Enterprise Server, SuSe, Redhat, Shell Scripting, Perl, X-Window and MS Windows Interfacing (SAMBA), IP Networking (LAN & WAN), Routing, Firewalls (IPTABLES) running on UNIX. Information systems development experience including systems analysis and design techniques for the implementation of large scale computer systems is required. Understanding and interpreting logical process flow is also required. Develops and modifies complex systems and develops subsystems to enhance the overall operation system. Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing a system of computer programs, and developing procedures to resolve the problems. Must have prior experience various personnel issues. Knowledge of Veritas VCS, TCL/Expect, High Performance/Supercomputing and Oracle Timesten in-memory DB would also be a plus. Minimum education required: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics with 7 years of experience in related field. In lieu of degree, high school diploma and 11 years of experience in related field may be considered. Security Clearance Required.
